The United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) Library serves as the primary source of biomedical and health-related information for all hospital staff. The library supports clinical practice, research, training, and continuing professional development by providing access to authoritative and up-to-date information resources.

The collection includes materials in all formats covering medicine, health sciences, basic life sciences, allied health sciences, and other relevant disciplines. Resources are carefully selected to meet the information needs of health professionals and the scholarly community.

 

Using the Library

Registered members are entitled to borrow library materials and make use of all available library services and facilities. Library staff also provide guidance on accessing electronic and online resources, including assistance with passwords and user credentials where required.

 

Web-Based Library System

The UBH Library operates a web-based library catalogue and circulation system that allows members to:

  • Search and view items available in the library collection
  • Check the availability of resources
  • Manage borrowing and circulation activities

The system also includes administrative functions for managing the library collection, registered users (patrons), and circulation desk operations.

 

Membership Eligibility

Library services are available to:

  • Staff of United Bulawayo Hospitals
  • Students affiliated with United Bulawayo Hospitals

Eligible members may use the library for both reading and borrowing purposes.

 

How to Join

Registration is open to all eligible staff and students and is completed by filling out a library registration form. Upon registration:

  • Members are issued with a unique library patron ID
  • Patron IDs allow users to log in to the library system
  • Registered users can view their current loans and hold (request) status online

Information Technology Facilities

The library provides access to computers for internet use. Members with personal laptops may also connect to the library’s Wi-Fi network.
