The Orthopaedic Centre at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) is a specialist unit dedicated to the assessment, design, and provision of high-quality orthopaedic and prosthetic services. The department serves patients from Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South, Midlands, Masvingo, and other provinces, ensuring accessible and patient-centred orthopaedic care.

 

Our Services

The Orthopaedic Centre provides comprehensive services aimed at improving mobility, function, and quality of life for patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.

 

Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Services

  • Assessment and management of patients with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal deformities
  • Designing and manufacturing of corrective and fixative orthotic devices
  • Designing and manufacturing of high-quality prosthetic limbs
  • Provision of mobility aids, including:
    • Crutches
    • Walking frames
    • Quadripods and tripods
  • Provision of pedorthotics, including surgical boots

Professional and Academic Involvement

The department is actively involved in:

  • Conducting outreach programmes within the community
  • Teaching and training student nurses
  • Participation in the orthopaedic clinical care team, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
