The department is involved in the recruitment of staff. It also manages human resource issues like salaries, maintenance of staff records, rewards, motivation and evaluation.
Recruitment of staff includes the following:
Professional Medical staff i.e. Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory scientists etc.
Professional non-medical staff i.e. Accountants, Human resources, Administrative officers, Executive Assistants etc.
Non Professional staff i.e. General Hands and Nurse Aids
Recruitment Procedures
Medical Staff- Members should be registered with their respective health profession councils e.g. Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe

Non-Medical Staff- Apply to the Health Services Commission (HSC)
Non Professional staff-To be registered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Amenities
Employees earn competitive salaries and allowances which include housing, transport, on call, uniform and retention allowances.

The department also provide training for those seeking attachments in the range of professions as above. Applications for attachments are done through the Chief Executive Officer.
Medical health professionals who wish to apply for employment can do so through the Ministry of Health and Child Care or the Chief Executive Officer of United Bulawayo Hospitals.

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS
One should be in possession of the following: National ID, Birth Certificate, Academic qualifications: ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Certificates, Professional qualifications: Degree, and a valid practicing certificate issued by the Medical and Dental Council of Zimbabwe or a relevant council. A Registration certificate and a detailed CV. Applicants shall be subject to a medical examination and security vetting.
