The department has three firms and is headed by Mr. B. Swene The three firms are:Mr B. Swene/C. Msasanure,Mr. Matindi and Mr. C Kukoka. Orthopaedic firms run each an OPD clinic and an effective theater list per week. One of the firms additionally run a Club Foot Clinic which uses the Ponseti method to treat Club Foot under the Bulawayo Club Foot Project.
The department is most of the time overwhelmed by trauma patients due to the increasing number of road traffic accidents. It serves the Southern half of Zimbabwe.

Outpatients Department (OPD)

Orthopaedic clinic days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings which are essentially fracture clinics although a small proportion of the patients are non-trauma orthopaedics

Club Foot Clinic

The Foot Club Clinic is run each Wednesday morning. The elective theater lists are done on Mondays and Fridays while ward rounds are done throughout the week.

The department assists in training of newly qualified housemen who are attached to each firm for 6 weeks at a time and also assists the local nursing school in training of student nurses.

We also train Post Graduate orthopaedics to Registrars in the department
